HISTORY OF THE COMMISSION.

The role of the Vocations Office is to promote vocations and recruit suitable young men who desire to be formed to become priests for the Diocese.  The Office Journeys with seminarians in their formation in the seminary and outside the seminary until they are presented to the Bishop for ordination. The office works with the formation team of  7 priests appointed by the Bishop. The Office also works as a link between the seminarians and the Seminary Formators, the Bishop and the parish priests who assist them during their pastoral experience.

TASKS OR ACTIVITIES UNDER THE COMMISSION:

The Tasks/Roles of the formation team;

  • Work closely with vocations Director on all matters related to seminarians and regularly report to the Bishop.
  • Evaluate the candidates for Diaconate and priesthood and report to the Bishop on their suitability.
  • To deliberate on seminarians issues related to discipline and advice the Bishop on the appropriate action.
  • To organize ongoing formation program as requested by the Bishop
  • To visit and follow up the parents  of the seminarians before they join the seminary and during their formation time.
